Go to Tanklets and read the one about Backflushing Clogged Plumbing. There are four scenarios described in one of the posts there and odds are it's one of two of them: heat trap nipple blockage or piping blockage. There is a Tanklets link at the top of The Tank. Randy Schuyler

Another thought: Try running water at the tub spout. It has no areator and likely won't clog up. Another possibility is a broken stem on a gate valve, but that is not likely from your description. Please let us know what you find. Yours, Larry

So yesterday i came home from work and tried to turn the kitchen sink on.... it had good pressure for about 30 seconds then completely stopped putting water out. mind you i didnt turn the water off just to see what happens. i walk in to the kitchen and the hot water is going full force like nothing was ever wrong. i tried the same with the bathroom sink and it still doesnt work. although the shower does...so there's two down one to go on this project.

Hello: Try removing the areator in the bath sink to see if you then get either hot or cold. Try them separately, so the problem is clear. If you do get cold but no hot, the backflushing trick Randy mentioned is the fix Yours, Larry

open t&p valve, check if there is coming water? take off hot water line, see if there is water? sometimes factory make the tank , keep the outlet or inlet plug, nit punched.

Okay. i am kinda dumb....the areator is the part that screws on to the faucet right? i've taken that off and the cold water does work, the hot water comes out just with no pressure whatsoever so i'll try to do the backflushing thing. although i dont get why the kitchen sink just started working out of nowhere??? oh well it works and i'm happy we just have the one little problem with the bathroom sink left. if the backflush doesn't work the what are other options??

If the backflush trick doesn't work, then somebody has to start taking apart plumbing to find out where the blockage is. No fun. But actually, before I did that, I think I'd open up the water heater hot port and replace the likely heat trap nipple there with a regular one. That could still be part of the problem and might explain why one faucet suddenly started working. Randy Schuyler
