i installed a new lower element last night. i wired it back up and now it is not even working. no hot water at all. i checked the breaker. i checked the relay switch on the top element part and it wasnt kicked out. could i have burned up something? i flipped the breaker for the water heater while changing elements and it still shocked me somehow.

If you use the Tanklets link and read Electric Water Heater Issues, the first thing on the page is a step by step test of all the things that could cause a problem. It has to be done with a volt meter. If you don't know how to use one, best call a pro to check it out. Randy Schuyler
