I'm looking for user info on either an AO Smith Next Hybrid Gas heater (HYB-90N) or Effex Gas (GAHH-50). Anyone install either of these? Good, bad, ugly? I know they're new, but thought i'd ask. I'm hoping the Next has less maintenance and install issues than a typical tank-less heater. I am not very optomistic that the energy savings over the life of the unit will out weigh it's costs, therefore i am interested in the Effex as a near term replacement. Thanks

Hello: I've no hands on experience with the "Next" heater, but do with the "Vertex". In comparing the two, I'm not sure I see a lot of advantage to the Next. Have you looked into the Vertex? ... It is nice to see that a big manufacturer is making an effort to produce some really efficient units. It could be seen as a challenge to the others You might want to ask these questions on "The Wall" at http://www.heatinghelp.com. Lots of good contractors visit there so chances are good you'll find some real world experience. Yours, Larry
