Our hot water heater is in our guesthouse. Last week we noticed a leak coming out of the ground between the two buildings and it turned out the hot water line from the water heater into the house had broken. We had it fixed the next day. The plumber also replaced the valve on the heater because he said it was old and faulty. Now our hot water pressure is low. I also noticed a little sand in one of the bathtubs (although i'm not sure if this was there from the beach or out of the faucet). We called the plumber and he said it's probably sand in the line so you we have a minor blockage. But our tenant also said she noticed low hot water pressure. My question is that if it was sand from when the pipe broke, wouldn't the water pressure be low in our house only and be fine in the guest house? My husband already checked the valve to be sure it was open all the way and it is. Would the next step be to check the water meter to be sure it stays still to rule out another leak? Please let me know your thoughts!
