My water heater stopped working this morning (rheem power vent 2) and showed a 4 flash error (Lockout condition. Switch fails to close). The manual said to inspect vent pipe and dillution air inlet for blockage. So I proceed to shut everything off and removed the blower assembly. Once removed water poured out of the blower from the tube at the top that connects to the vent. This isn't normal is it? could this be what was causing the error message?

No, that's not normal. How old is this water heater? Are you using a water softener? Randy Schuyler

the water heater is is about 7years old and we do use a water softener. I have no idea how the water could have gotten into there though, I poured at the water and let it dry. Now everything is working fine again.

Then you should have someone check the anode. But my guess is that after seven years, there won't be anything left of it and the heater has a leak somewhere. If you read the Anodes section elsewhere on the site, you'll learn that people who soften should check their anodes frequently. If the anode is consumed, the water heater quickly follows.
